| Sharma to lead India in fresh WTO talks in Geneva |

India is fielding a team headed by Commerce Minister Anand Sharma for the 6th WTO Ministerial Meeting on November 30 that will focus on the internal functioning of the WTO.
The general hype in the run-up of the WTO Ministerial Meeting (WMM) is missing this Time around as the most contentious issue before the global trade negotiators - the Doha Round - has been kept off the agenda.
Trade Ministers from 153 member countries of the World Trade Organisation will be attending the Ministerial Meeting at Geneva, which is held once in two years. However, it has been four years since the last WMM was held at Hong Kong.
India is seeking reform in the functioning of the global trade referee. It is also supporting China which is seeking more representation for the developing nations among the WTO staff.
Sharma, who is leaving tomorrow for the meeting, would hold one-to-one dialogue with several counterparts, including those from the European Union, Canada and Australia, official sources said, adding that he would also hold meetings with the alliances of the developing countries like G-20 and G-33.
The meeting with US Trade Representative Ron Kirk has not yet been fixed, the sources said.
The team of officials assisting the ministers would be led by Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar.
