Shoot-at-sight orders were today issued against booth capturers or those attempting to damage EVMs in Papumpare district and in the state capital during the assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh.
This was decided at a meeting of the district magistrates and police superintendents of the two districts, a senior official said.
The order was given in view of some incidents during the May Lok Sabha elections here.
Meanwhile, for the first time in the country video feeds were being webcast from three polling stations in Konsa East constituency in Tirap district for people to see the peaceful polling and check bogus voting.
The Chief Electoral officer Yeshi Tsering said he had received reports of disturbances in one polling station in Ziro-Hapoli constituency where the EVM was damaged. If required repoll would be be ordered, he said.
Meanwhile, the ignition keys of 24 cars were seized by the police at Nirjuli area here for unauthorised use of the vehicles during polling hours.
The cars included the one in which the wife of a prominent candidate was travelling, Itanagar Superintendent of Police Hibu Tamang said.
Seizure of cars and two wheelers have also reported from elsewhere in the state.
