Skoda views 'Rapid' as bestseller introduces online booking to promote transparency

With the launch of C-segment Sedan, Rapid, Skoda Auto India, subsidiary of Skoda Auto, is aiming to strengthen their position in C-segment car and also expects the new sedan to be amongst the top contributors for Skoda sales in India.

Skoda Rapid also marks the entry of Skoda Auto India into the C-segment category, as company is ambitious about the new sedan

Skoda Auto India is eyeing the new sedan ‘Rapid’, to contribute 50 per cent of total volume sales for Skoda in India, by next year. The plan is to sell 2,000 units of rapid every month.

Thomas Kuhel, director sales marketing, Skoda Auto India added, “We intend to strengthen our presence in the highly competitive C segment in the country with this launch. Our plans for the Rapid in India are fairly ambitious, given that we expect it to become the bestselling car in our model line-up in India, in the near future.”

Even as the automobile sector is crossing turbulent times, Skoda Auto India maintained they have registered a growth of 50 per cent in first ten months(January-October).

Compared to 20,400 units of Skoda last year, we already have reached 24,000 units in ten months and expect the year to close with 30,000 units.

Skoda Auto India has fibe models on sale including Skoda Superb, Skoda Laura, Skoda Fabia, Skoda Yeti and the recently launched Skoda Rapid. Skoda Auto India has a network of 90 outlets which they intend to increase to 100 by year end.

Skoda Auto India that is coming out with Fabia scout and new variants in 2012, has also started the online booking for the ‘Rapid’ model.

Kuhel added with the launch of ‘Rapid’ they also have started online bookings for the car. We have 18 cars that were booked online and are looking further to up this segment. Even though the e- commerce business in India is still at nascent stage, the company expects the mode to strengthen in coming years. Thomas Kuhel, maintained the step is aimed towards creating more transparency in the business. With online booking one person can avail 24X 7 booking facility and a convenient time and place for the customer.

Priced upwards Rs 6.75 lakhs(ex-showroom), rapid has been designed keeping the Indian customer preference in mind.
