Announcement / Corporate Nov 09, 2009, 19:39 IST

Sonata Information Technology Limited (Sonata) today announced that it has been awarded a project by public sector firm Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCI) to provide Enterprise Solution implementation services for its corporate office in Visakhapatnam and dredging project sites.

The solution will be based on Microsoft’s latest ERP Solution platform, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. In the first phase of the engagement, Sonata will implement solutions for DCIL’s financial and material management functions. Subsequently, the scope will be expanded to include other business functions as well.

Speaking on the occasion, DCI officials said, “There is an increasing demand for dredging services worldwide. To cater to increasing information demands for a growing business, we are adopting new technologies that will aid in our modernization efforts and enhance our capabilities. In implementing an Enterprise Solution across our organization, we needed a partner who understood our requirements, and could take complete ownership of the implementation process. With their team of highly skilled professionals providing focused business solutions, we are confident that Sonata is well-positioned for the task.”

Mr PVSN Raju, Head – Enterprise Solutions & Microsoft CoE, at Sonata added, “We are delighted to win this contract from one of India’s pioneering public sector companies. The ERP implementation is expected to improve DCI’s business processes, reduce cycle time for requests and optimize inventory. This win is testimony to our best-in-class Enterprise Services that help our customers seamlessly integrate their business processes and ensure quicker returns on their technology investments.”

Sushant Dwivedy, Director, Microsoft Business Solutions, Microsoft India stated, “We are glad that DCI has chosen Microsoft Enterprise Solution for streamlining its business operations. This is in line with Microsoft’s focus of delivering state-of-the-art business applications to Government owned enterprises.  Based on Microsoft Dynamics AX, the solution will help DCI to manage accurate business insights, standardize operations across multiple locations and facilitate compliance”. He added, “Our partner Sonata would be delivering the solutions in line with DCI’s requirements to facilitate their dredging and allied services for users in India and abroad.”
