| Star Aviation to buy 10 aircraft for Rs 1,400 cr |

Star Aviation, promoted by Dubai-based ETA Star Group, which recently got licence from the Civil Aviation Ministry to fly in the Indian skies, is planning to buy 10 aircraft with an investment of around $300 million (over Rs 1,400 crore). The airline is planning to commence its service by mid-March.
Star Aviation, which will be the second airline company to operate Embraer model in India. Already Paramount Airways, which will be the main competitior (since it is also a regional airline) for Star Aviation, is already flying Embraer in India.
Shankar said that the company on Wednesday received approval from the Director General of Foreign Trade to import the first aircraft.
To start with, the airline will connect Chennai – Madurai in Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad – Vishakappatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Kochi – Trivandum in Kerala. The airline is also planning to launch Chennai – Banlgaore service by October 2009.
