The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is training around 25 engineering graduates recruited by Toshiba Embedded Systems India through its finishing school. STPI, which has started the finishing school on a pilot basis at Chennai, is planning to extend to other parts of the country.
Speaking to Business Standard on the sidelines of Connect 2009, an ICT event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry here recently, Omkar Rai, senior director, STPI, said, “We have started a pilot at Chennai and based on the success, it will be replicated in other parts of the country.”
STPI has 51 centres across the country. The finishing school has been launched in association with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).
The school would provide training in both soft and technical skills to engineering students. The 25 candidates are undergoing a six-month training programme and would also go through internship at the Chennai facility, he added.
While STPI would provide infrastructure and mentoring, the content would be provided by C-DAC, a research and development institution under the Department of Information Technology.
