Drug major Sun Pharmaceutical Industries today climbed nearly 4 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) after it got the US health regulator's approval for its generic version of Oxaloplatin injections used in the treatment of cancer.
Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical jumped 3.67 per cent to a high of Rs 1,250 on the BSE, while on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the stock surged 3.41 per cent to a high of Rs 1,249.
Oxaloplatin injections are used in the treatment of cancer and the company shares 180 days exclusivity for generic version of Eloxatin.
The US health regulator Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted the Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) approval for Oxaliplatin injections in 50 mg and 100 mg strengths.
