Suzlon signs 224 MW European framework order with EUFER

Order to supply seven windfarms in Andalusia, Spain; Supplies over FY2010 and FY2011.

Suzlon Energy Limited (SEL), the world’s fifth leading* and India’s largest wind turbine manufacturer, secured a new framework agreement with EUFER (joint-venture between ENEL Green Energy and Spanish Utility UNION FENOSA for renewable energy business in Spain and Portugal) for supply and installation of Suzlon 2.1 MW wind turbines for wind farms totalising 224.5 MW. These machines are proposed to be installed up to FY 2010-11.

Suzlon also announced plans to set up a blades manufacturing facility in Andalusia (Spain). This facility is expected to be commissioned by December 2010. EUFER has extended full support to Suzlon in these plans.

Speaking on the agreement, Mr. Erik Winther Pedersen, CEO – Suzlon Wind Energy A/S – Suzlon’s Europe and Latin America-arm, said: “EUFER is a European leader in renewable energy projects, and we are proud to form this strategic partnership with them. We look forward to a long-term relationship between our two companies. This project underlines our commitment to Spanish wind energy market, not just as a supplier, but also in creating infrastructure and employment.”

Suzlon considers EUFER as a strategic partner in Andalusia towards the development of Suzlon’s ambitious industrial plan and market strategy. The framework agreement considers the possibility of increasing the number of wind farms, bringing EUFER and Suzlon together, for a long term relationship
