Suzlon welcomes passage of Australian RET legislation
Announcement / Corporate Aug 20, 2009, 23:08 IST

Suzlon Energy Australia (SEA) today welcomed passage of the Renewable Energy Target (RET) legislation that will help Australia achieve its target of 20% of electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

Dan Hansen, SEA’s Chief Executive said: “The passage of the Renewable Energy Target legislation marks an important milestone in Australia’s transition to a low carbon economy.  Suzlon welcomes the leadership shown by Australia’s politicians to support the expansion of Australia’s renewable energy industry.”

The RET legislation will underpin the expansion of a thriving renewable energy industry in Australia, and will provide additional support for regional investment and clean energy jobs.

Dan Hansen said: “Today’s RET legislation will see a massive expansion in clean energy jobs across Australia.  We have already seen our wind farm projects deliver significant employment and regional development opportunities, and this is now set to increase across the country.”

Suzlon is looking forward to delivering many more renewable energy projects in Australia.

Dan Hansen said: “The Renewable Energy Target legislation will help unlock Australia’s fantastic renewable energy resources.  Suzlon welcomes the opportunity to play its part in delivering clean, renewable energy to Australian consumers.”
