Sybase 365 continues robust growth in Asia market
Signs eleven new mobile operators
Announcement / Corporate Nov 18, 2009, 19:32 IST

New Agreements Further Cement Company's Leadership Position in Operator Services, Delivering Two-Way International SMS, MMS and GRX Interoperability

Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), the global leader in mobile messaging and mobile commerce services, today announced further growth in the Asia market with its selection by eleven leading mobile operators to provide International SMS, MMS and GRX services.

Sybase 365 continues to expand its International SMS connectivity footprint across Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Korea, Mongolia, and Nepal, through agreements with GSM operators such as Grameenphone, Latelz Co., Ltd (SMART MOBILE), TMI Cambodia, Sampoerna, SureM, Unitel, G-Mobile, and Spice Nepal; and CDMA operators such as, Pacific Bangladesh Telecom (CityCell), and GT-Tell (Excell).

The operators will gain access to more than 3.4 billion mobile subscribers around the world across 800 networks. With transcoding capabilities that traverse networks and handsets without degrading message quality, Sybase 365 seamlessly interconnects global mobile users over GSM, CDMA and TDMA networks.

In addition, Sybase 365 has also signed Laos operator, Lao Telecom, for its GRX 365 global data roaming service. This provides Lao Telecom subscribers with access to more than 500 mobile network operators around the world.  GRX 365 can be used for international MMS connectivity via MMX 365, and SMS and Roaming Signalling using SigTran.  These new agreements further extend Sybase 365's unrivalled global footprint and increases the number of operator partners in Asia to 161.

Sybase 365 is well placed to lead the next IP evolution.  Its GRX 365 is IPX-ready, able to deliver interoperability for Voice and Video over IP and Instant Messaging among other services. In related news, the company today also announced its partnership with Telecom New Zealand International (TNZI) to provide a joint IPX Voice service. The IPX Voice service offers a high-quality voice service based on managed IP interconnects using Sybase 365 best-of-breed GRX infrastructure combined with TNZI's next-generation softswitch technology, enabling operators to maximize their operational efficiencies, save costs, and improve service quality to their subscribers.

"Asia continues to be a major market for Sybase 365", said Matthew Tonkin, Senior Director, Sales, for Sybase 365 in Asia.  "These new agreements consolidate our leadership in providing operators with global and regional connectivity for messaging and data. As we move towards the convergence of fixed and mobile telephony, Sybase 365 is able to bridge the gap and provide a seamless and secure interoperability service to mobile operators worldwide."
