Due to a fall in revenues from telecommunication services, Tata Communications posted a 70 per cent drop in net profit to Rs 10.45 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 from Rs 32.9 crore during the corresponding quarter a year ago.
Total Income also fell 24 per cent from Rs 1035.77 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2008 to Rs 792.99 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009.
Total expenditure fell to Rs 714.3 crore from Rs 861.71 crore from September 30, 2008 primarily due to a fall in network costs.
The fall in net profit on ayear-on-year basis would have been higher if not for a claim of Rs 95.6 crore incurred in the September 2008 quarter.
At BSE the company's shares were trading at Rs 468.60 at 3:04 pm up 0.02 per cent from the previuos close.
