| Tata Elxsi is looking at the possibility of setting up its third development centre in Chennai.

| The company’s chief executive officer Madhukar Dev, speaking to Business Standard, said: “We are looking at setting up a development unit in Chennai in the near future. This centre will basically focus on the company’s Visual Computing Division.” This will be in addition to its centres in Bangalore and Trivandrum.

| The company has also outlined that it will increasingly bank on its Visual Computing Division to drive its future growth.

| “Of our four divisions – Product Design Services, Design Engineering Services, Visual Computing Labs, Design Tools & System Integration – we anticipate revenues from systems integration to decline over the next 12-18 months, while Visual Computing Division is expected to grow exponentially,” Dev added.

| Commenting on the optimism for visual computing activities in the company, Dev said, “we are having extremely fruitful associations with Alias, which is the world’s leading innovator of 3D graphics technology and based on this platform, we intend to leverage our skills in this arena to fuel out future growth.”

| In fact, its Maya software was recently awarded an Oscar from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, he added. Tata Elxsi has been a long-standing partner and co-developer of Maya.

| The company has stated that it intends to reach a turnover of Rs 250-300 crore over the next two years from a turnover of Rs 110 crore for the fiscal 2002-03. |
