Tata Motors starts distribution of Prima range of trucks

The country's largest auto maker, Tata Motors, today said it has started distribution of its Prima range of trucks and plans to launch three more products in the segment during the current fiscal.

The distribution of the Prima 4028S has begun with select customers in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi and West Bengal, Tata Motors said in a statement.

In May this year, the company had unveiled the Prima 4028S, priced at Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle comes with a trailer which is priced Rs 31 lakh.

The tractor-trailer can be used for freight carriage of up to 40.2 tonne, it added.

Tata Motors said it plans to come out with three other products in the tractor-trailor segment by end of the fiscal, including two 49-tonne tractor-trailers and a 31-tonne tipper.

The distribution of all the entire Prima range will be completed in phases over next two years, the statement said.

All the vehicles would be Bharat Stage III and Bharat Stage IV mission norm compliant.

The Prima range comprises of about 10 major variants of multi-axle trucks, tractor-trailers, tippers, mixers and special application vehicles.

It has been jointly developed by Tata Motors and two of its subsidiaries — South Korea-based Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company and Tata Motors European Technical Centre of UK.
