Tata Tele subscribers in state at 17.5 lakh

Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) has reached a subscriber base of 17.5 lakh in the Orissa circle by the end of January 2010, according to the data of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

The figure includes the subscribers of Tata Indicom and Tata Docomo, the CDMA and GSM brands of TTSL respectively.

Addressing reporters here, Anupam Verma, chief operating officer (Orissa circle), Tata Docomo said, “As per the COAI data, TTSL has achieved a subscriber base of 17.5 lakh by the end if January this year. The overall mobile subscriber base in Orissa has touched 13.4 million by the said period.”

It may be noted that Orissa had around eight million (80 lakh) subscribers by the end of March 2009.

Verma said, the Orissa circle on an average is adding 6-7 lakh mobile subscribers every month and TTSL added around one lakh new subscribers in the month of January.

Talking on Tata Docomo's coverage in Orissa, he said, “We are present in all districts of Orissa except Gajapati, Phulabani and Kandhamal. Tata Docomo's network covers overs 400 towns, 14000 villages and all major highways in the state.”

Tata Docomo on Thursday announced the launch of its unique Daily Plan Offer. Under the 'Daily Plan' offer, the pre-paid subscribers of Tata Docomo can opt for services like GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), local calls, STD and ISD calls, night calling and music.

To activate this service, the customers will have to dial *141# from their mobile phones and select the desired option.

“Every customer has different needs on different days. Through our 'Daily Plan', we are giving our customers the power and flexibility to choose a plan that best suits their needs for that day, thus allowing them to make the most of every single day. Our interactive 'Daily Plan' menu is designed to make the process of discovering our products and services highly simple and transparent”, stated Verma.

This is a kind of plan that the mobile subscribers have been waiting for and Tata Docomo will continue to roll out innovative offers from time to time, he added.

Under the Daily Recharge Plan, the subscribers can enjoy GPRS service with a usage of 10 MB at just Rs five per day.

There is also the Talkathon option wherein the subscribers can chose from 30 free national calls, 30 free local calls, 30 free calls within the TTSL network and 10 free local calls priced at Rs 14, Rs 12, Rs five and Rs five respectively. The plan also offers the subscribers the Entertainment option according to which they can either enjoy 15 minutes of music or unlimited cricket alerts at Rs five per day.
