Thermax, which operates in energy and environment business segments, today said it has bagged an order worth Rs 1,000 crore for a power plant being set up by a Hyderabad-based infrastructure firm.

Under the contract, the company would design, construct and commission 270 MW thermal power plant, Thermax said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

However, the company did not disclose the name of its client.

The company, in addition to boilers, would also supply air pollution control, water treatment and effluent treatment systems for the project, the filing said.

It would supply boilers which are based on circulating fluidised bed combustion (CBFC) technology, the company said.

"This technology will also help to generate power from enormous quantity of coal washery rejects, pet coke and low grade lignite", Thermax MD and CEO M S Unnikrishnan said.
