Captain Vijayakanth, the popular Tamil actor-turned politician and founder of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, was in the capital to protest the continued harassment of fishermen from Tamil Nadu by the Sri Lankan navy. For his one-day fast to express solidarity with the fishermen, he brought along a trainload of supporters from Tamil Nadu. Unfortunately the supporters were not in a frame of mind to stand shoulder to shoulder with their beloved Captain. While Vijayakanth sat on stage without a morsel of food, the supporters were busy gorging on piping hot dosas and idlis at a popular roadside eatery on Delhi's Jantar Mantar Lane. After a good meal, they were seen heading towards the lawns of Jantar Mantar, perhaps for an afternoon nap.
