Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the Nagaland government and Godrej Appliances has organised a week-long workshop for students of Nagaland at Salt Lake in Kolkata.
Seventeen students who have passed high school will be taught basic operations of refrigerator, air conditioner and washing machines.
The programme was inaugurated on September 22 and would continue till September 26. Senior Nagaland government officials, CII officials and top Godrej executives were present at the launch ceremony.
Arnab Bagchi, regional service head of Godrej in Kolkata, said the students would be taught the basic working of the each product.
“This will help them in engaging in the service sector and they can also become entrepreneurs in future. We are providing them hands on experience,” Bagchi pointed out.
The students have been sponsored by the Nagaland government, covering their visit to Kolkata and stay during the workshop in the city. They will also be trained on the latest refrigerator using ozone-friendly technology.
The engagement is part of CII’s initiative to develop human resources in the north eastern states to aid the flow of capital into the area.
CII has a dedicated cell, called North Eastern Council, which is looking after the development of trade, commerce and industry in eight NE states.
