Transcend reports impressive Asia-Pacific sales growth in July
India makes substantial contribution to Transcend's growth
Announcement / Corporate Aug 19, 2009, 20:54 IST

Transcend Information, Inc. (Transcend), a worldwide leader in storage and multimedia products, has announced that its sales revenue grew 57.69% in the Asia-Pacific region in July 2009 compared to the same period in the last year. In addition, Transcend’s monthly product shipment in the Asia-Pacific region increased about 70%. As for its sales growth breakdown by area, Southeast Asia grew 69.37%, while South Asia and Oceania both rose about 60%, and sales in the Middle East increased 47.92%. Transcend attributes much of its success in the region to the market in India as for past several months, Transcend has been achieving monthly shipment of 1 million pieces to the country. Transcend’s total monthly sales in India accounts towards 10% of Transcend's global sales.

Mr. Austin Huang, Regional Head - Sales, SAARC & APAC, Transcend, said, “India is a huge and extremely important market for Transcend and therefore, we invest a lot of time and resources in strengthening our presence in the country. We are continuously working on reinforcing our brand equity and visibility and enhancing our channel relationships and market penetration. We aim to further strengthen our sales and market position in various segments in India over the next couple of years.”

“Transcend currently holds a clear No.1 position for pen drives in the India Market. As for memory modules, HDD and memory cards, we have good rankings in India and are amongst the frontrunners. In order to further strengthen sales and our market share, we are focussing more on strategy products like MP3, external HDD and Photo Frames etc.,” added Mr. Huang.

Thanks to effective channel deployment and close cooperation with key distributor partners, Transcend’s market share in the Asia-Pacific region continued to grow. Transcend’s sales revenue and growth rate both reached record-highs in July. The majority of this growth came from the markets of India, Iran, Israel, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and Australia. Transcend has been the leading memory products brand in India, Vietnam and Iran for years, and continues to gain market share in the aforementioned countries with its storage and multimedia products. Moreover, due to the successful introduction of strategic product lines, Transcend now also enjoys impressive sales growth in the UAE, Israel, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Australia.
