Transgene Biotek Limited has informed that the company has completed the development of oral delivery of insulin and of Hepatitis B vaccine in collaboration with the pharmacology division led by Prakash V Diwan at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad.
The pre-clinical trials on oral delivery of insulin and Hepatitis B have demonstrated exciting results. The drug is to be administered in liquid form as oral drops.
Transgene is the first company in the world to have developed this technology to deliver Hepatitis B vaccine through oral route. The administration of the oral vaccine becomes easier in infants and children.
With the pre-clinical trial data providing exciting results, the management is in discussions with one of the biggest pharma companies in the world to out-license the oral delivery of insulin as a first step.
