| Cable TV Equipment Traders & Manufacturers Association (CTMA) will urge the government to provide cable television (TV) sector industry status.

| Sanjay Mansukhani, secretary, CTMA said, "We urge the government to provide industry status to cable TV segment. We would approach through the ministry of information and broadcasting (I&B)." CTMA will be hosting 'Cable TV Show 2005' in Kolkata this December.

| "For the first time, a six member delegation of Pakistan Electronic Media Association (PEMA) would be participating in the show.

| Around 10,000 cable operators, traders, manufacturers, channel partners, distributors and multi system operators would be participating," he noted.

| Around Rs 80,000 crore has been invested in the cable television segment till now. More than 70,000 cable operators were involved in the business. They employed 15 lakh people, claimed Mansukhani.

| Cable TV units were unable to get funding as it did not have industry status. Moreover, there should be a regulatory body for cable TV operators, he urged. |
