| The U-VA beat formidable competition from the Honda Civic, the Hyundai Verna petrol and diesel, the Chevrolet Aveo 1.4 and 1.6, the Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo, and the Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia to win the top honours.

| The U-VA won the award for being a well-built spacious hatchback that offers surprisingly peppy performance from its 1150cc motor, which is fuel efficient too. For its size, it rides and handles well and comes with a comprehensive list of safety and comfort features. The clincher, of course, was its persuasive price-tag.

| The Business Standard Motoring rating system is designed to reward cars that are affordable and fuel efficient, keeping the larger mass of Indian buyers in mind. Only all-new cars that were launched in calendar year 2006 were eligible for the 2007 awards.

| The U-VA joins previous winners like the Maruti Suzuki Swift (2006), Hyundai Getz (2005), Honda City (2004), Mahindra Scorpio (2003), and Fiat Palio (2002).

| Other 2007 winners of the oldest automotive awards in the country have also been announced. The 150cc Hero Honda CBZ X-Treme trounced the new 125cc competition like the Honda Shine, Suzuki Zeus, and the Yamaha Gladiator to win the Business Standard Motoring Bike Of The Year 2007 Award.
