UK-based UPI to expand operations at InfoCity

Even as Ahmedabad features among the 31 emerging cities globally in information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing (BPO) sector in the recent KPMG study, Gujarat is witnessing further buoyancy in the industry.

Now the UK-based UPI Ltd. is expanding its operations at InfoCity, Gandhinagar, around 25 kms from Ahmedabad.

Under its tie-up with Etech Inc., the claims management company plans to generate around 5,000 customers in next two quarters from the former's facility at InfoCity.

"Etech promotes our business to customers back in UK. Through Etech's infrastructure, we are able to cater to a large number of customers in claims management. We are now expanding our operations by floating a new project with Etech," said Cyril Keith, director of UPI (UK) Ltd. Under the new project, UPI will be offering new financial products for its customers. The company has primary operations in UK, along with call centers in UK, Kenya, Egypt, and Bangalore and Gandhinagar in India.

"We have been training Etech employees to meet our standards in claims management. At Gandhinagar, we are expecting atleast 10 sales per person per day in the next quarter. Moreover, in the next two quarter we are targeting over 5,000 customers," said Keith.

Through Etech, UPI will be employing around 50 professionals by April and later double it up in the following quarter. Meanwhile, buoyed by fresh projects from the likes of UPI Ltd., Etech Inc. will be investing around Rs 125 crore for its new facility and aims to generate around 2,000 jobs at InfoCity.
