UltraTech, Exide, Megasoft & GVK Power Q4 results

UltraTech net up 29% at Rs 1,008 crore

UltraTech Cement, an Aditya Birla group company, has posted a 29 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 1,008 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2008, as compared with Rs 782 crore in the previous year. Net sales grew 12.18 per cent to Rs 5,509 crore from Rs 4,911 crore.

For the quarter January-March 2008, net profit increased 22 per cent to Rs 283 crore from Rs 232 crore in the previous corresponding quarter. Net sales for the quarter stood at Rs 1,602 crore as against Rs 1,465 crore in the previous corresponding quarter.

Exide India Q4 profit rises 63%

Exide Industries Ltd, India’s biggest maker of automotive batteries, on Tuesday said its fourth-quarter profit gained 63.11 per cent on higher automobile sales.

Net income rose to Rs 62.82 crore in the three months to March 31, 2008 from Rs 38.51 crore a year earlier.

Total income for the year rose from Rs 533.1 crore to Rs 796.3 crore, a growth of 49.3 per cent. The increase in profitability has come despite high input prices, particularly lead which accounts for nearly 70 per cent of the costs.

Megasoft bottomline up 24 per cent

Megasoft Limited, a product-based technology company, has reported a net profit of Rs 15 crore for the first quarter ended March 31, 2008, a growth of 23.96 per cent from Rs 12.1 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Revenues grew 38.92 per cent to Rs 90.3 crore during the quarter under review, as against Rs 65 crore in the corresponding previous quarter. EPS (basic) stood at Rs 3.39 over Rs 2.74.

Segment-wise, the telecom sector contributed Rs 55.2 crore to the company’s revenues, an increase of 133.89 per cent over the Rs 23.6 crore in the previous corresponding quarter.

GVK Power posts 6-fold net increase

GVK Power & Infrastructure has posted a six-fold increase in net profit at Rs 90.85 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008, up from Rs 14.85 crore in the previous year.

Total income during the year was Rs 117.32 crore as against Rs 42.92 crore in the previous corresponding period, the company announced on Tuesday.
