Unison Hotels, which owns The Grand New Delhi, has acquired two acres of land in Hyderabad for a five-star hotel and service apartment complex in the Golden Mile project, next to Hi-Tech City.
The Golden Mile integrated development project of Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (Huda) is an infrastructure project wherein the entire 100 acre land is allotted for simultaneous development of the area. The Unison Hotels won the bid in a public auction recently.
“We plan to develop a 220-room business hotel and a 120-service apartment complex,” Umesh Saraf, managing director of Unison Hotels, stated in a press release here on Wednesday.
The Saraf group, which owns Unison Hotels has a substantial stake in Asian Hotels Limited, which own Hyatt Regency Hotels in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
The family also owns The Grand Hyatt Mumbai. This is the first time the Saraf group has ventured into South India. They are also close to signing up a deal to acquire land in Bangalore for a hotel and service apartment complex.
“Our strategy is to follow the Indian IT trail across India with our new hotels and service apartments. Hyderabad and Bangalore are important acquisitions for our Rs 2,000-crore expansion plan which is being unfolded,” Saraf explained.
Unison is exploring options to put up five-star properties in the upmarket business segment from where the maximum demand will arise in future.
According to Saraf, the company’s focus is to develop new properties in the metros of the country where the demand is maximum round the year.
“We are also open to having multiple opportunities in these cities,” he said.
