Universal Cables, Punjab Tractors & Praj Ind Q4 results

Universal Cables' Q4 net down marginally

Power cable company, Universal Cables, part of the M P Birla group, has registered a net profit of Rs 5.9 crore in the quarter ended March 2008, down marginally from Rs 6.2 crore in the comparable period last year.

EBIDTA during the current quarter was higher at Rs 17.08 crore (Rs 13.75 crore). Net sales stood at Rs 131.40 crore, an increase of 16.65 per cent.

R S Lodha, chairman, Universal Cables, said the company had recently got its 220 kv cable samples successfully tested at the CPRI laboratory, Bangalore.

Punjab Tractors' Q4 net doubles to Rs 27 cr

Punjab Tractors said its profit after tax more than doubled to Rs 26.7 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2008. The company had recorded a profit after tax of Rs 11.9 crore in corresponding period last year.

According to the company, this became possible mainly due to better product mix, cost-reduction exercises, value-engineering efforts and better cash management. Total revenues for the quarter stood at Rs 285.9 crore (Rs 223.5 crore).

Praj Industries' FY08 net jumps 78%

India's leading biofuels-technology company, Praj Industries, has reported 78 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 153 crore for the year ended March 2008. It posted a profit of Rs 86 crore last year. Total income has gone up by 20 per cent at Rs 740 crore (Rs 616 crore).
