UP, Uttarakhand hold meeting on division of assets

Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments recently held a meeting here for the division of assets between the two states following the bifurcation of Uttar Pradesh in 2000.UP and Uttarakhand were represented by their chief secretaries Atul Kumar Gupta and Nrip Singh Napalchyal, respectively.
The division of responsibilities between UP Hydro Power Corporation Limited and Uttarakhand Hydro Power Corporation Limited was also discussed, besides the construction of the proposed new express-way (Noida to Purkazi) being constructed by UP on Upper Gang Canal up to Haridwar.
The meeting agenda also included conversion of Muzaffarnagar-Deoband-Gagalhedi Road, National Highway-58 and Muzaffarnagar-Purkazi sector NH-58 into four lanes.
The two governments also deliberated on the division of the area of Sharda Sahayak Sagar Jalashay spanning both the states.
Among other things, the meeting discussed the availability of gazetted officers from UP for holding the Kumbh Mela successfully.
The issue related with police personnel allocated by the Centre for Uttarakhand, who had not reported so far, also cropped up in the talks.The pending issues of UP Beej Evam Terai Vikas Nigam and Seed Certification Institute was also discussed.
