| US encourages dialogue between North and South Korea |

The Obama Administration has said that it encourages dialogue between North and South Korea with the objective of bringing lasting peace in the Korean peninsula, while maintaining that denuclearisation remains its main goal for the region.
"We encourage dialogue between the two, between North Korea and South Korea," the State Department spokesman, Ian Kelly, told reporters.
In response to a question, the spokesman said the United States encourages and supports the efforts that are aimed at issues like family reunification.
"These are important and obviously very emotional issues. Of course, we encourage these kinds of contacts between North Korea and South Korea," he said.
Kelly said denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, remains the US' main goal for the region.
"It is important that we do this in a multilateral context. There are stakeholders in the region that – and the context has been the Six-Party Talks. We do not want to be disconnected from our regional partners," he said.
"So when we have talks with the North Koreans on these kinds of security issues, we want to have these talks together with our partners," Kelly added.
