As the government continues to push the nuclear deal, a delegation of influential US lawmakers today said the agreement should come to the Congress for final vote by August failing which the process would not be completed during the tenure of the Bush administration.
After meeting the prime minister's special envoy on the nuclear deal, Shyam Saran, and Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon, US Congressional delegation leader Gary Ackerman made it clear that India would have to speed up the process as the calender of the Congress is "running quickly" and time to get the deal through is "getting shorter".
