US stocks closed higher on Thursday mainly because of a rebound in oil prices.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 37 points (0.39%) to end at 9,580. The index posted its eighth straight gain, led by Boeing company. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose three points (0.16%) to 2,028.

The Indian ADRs ended on a negative note. Patni Computers tumbled 5% to $17.41.

HDFC Bank was down 0.5% at $97.65 and Tata Communications dropped 0.6% to $21.11.

Wipro and ICICI Bank were up marginally at $16.2 and $31.4, respectively.
