The Dow Jones closed at 9,731, up 131 points or 1.3% and the Nasdaq shut shop at 2,103, higher by 35 points or 1.71%. The S&P 500 was 14 points or 1.3% up at 1,054.
Among the Indian ADRs, Infosys ended at $49.5, up $0.3 points or 0.6%, Sterlite closed at $16.76, up $0.7 or 4.8% and Dr Reddy's ended at $19.95, up $0.5 or 2.7%.
Tata Communications ended at $20.50, higher by $0.5 points or 2.7% and HDFC Bank ended at $120, up by $4.9 points or 4.3%.
