The Dow Jones industrial average gained five points (0.06%) to 8,183. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added three points (0.35%) to 883. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose five points (0.31%) to 1,752.55.

US stocks advanced marginally on Thursday as investors bought beaten-down technology and commodity shares and while a encouraging broker comment on Goldman Sachs helped the financial sector to rise.

Tata Motors advanced around 4% to $7.92 and Infosys was up 0.5%  to $34.49.

Patni Computers gained 1% at $10.10 .HDFC Bank increased around 2% to $93.08
