Wall street ended higher on Friday as investors focused on the bright side of a mixed payrolls report that showed smaller-than-expected job cuts in August, although the unemployment rate hit a 26-year high. The Dow Jones rose 96 points to 9,441. The Nasdaq advanced 35 points to close at 2,019. The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 13 points to 1,016.
But for the week, the Dow was down 1.1%, the S&P 500 shed 1.2% and the Nasdaq was down 0.5% due to a sharp sell-off in the first three days of the week.
Indian ADRs ended in the positive zone.
INfosys and Mahindra Satyam added 1.29% each to $44.91 and $6.3, respectively. Genpact gained 1.33% to $12.22. Wipro advanced 1.35% to $15.74. Patni Computers surged 3.05% to $18.6.
Sterlite rallied 5.62% to $13.9. Tata Communications gained 2.43% to $20.25. MTNL rose 1.88%. Dr. Reddy's and Tata Motors added around 1.5% each.
