Uttar Pradesh suffers a loss of Rs 50 cr on Day 1

An estimated 40,000 trucks stopped plying in Uttar Pradesh as part of the nationwide strike on Monday. According to an estimate, industry in the state suffered a loss of about Rs 50 crore on the first day.

Trade worth Rs 100 cr affected in Uttarakhand

Industrial trade worth Rs 75 crore to Rs 100 crore was affected in Uttarakhand, even as nearly 10,000 trucks came to a grinding halt in the state on Monday affecting the transportation goods from industrial areas in Pantnagar, Haridwar, Kotdwar, Selaquie and Dehra Dun.

Punjab may see shortage of commodities

Punjab is expected to witness a severe shortage of vegetables and other essential commodities as more than 150,000 trucks and commercial vehicles went off the road from Sunday midnight.

60% trucks off the road in West Bengal

The Federation of West Bengal Truck Operators Association joined the nationwide strike on Monday. “Nearly 60 per cent of the trucks in the state did not ply on Monday,” said S Majumdar, general secretary of the Federation.

400,000 trucks stay off the road in Andhra

About 400,000 trucks in Andhra Pradesh stayed off the road as part of the strike. Trade circles estimate the revenue loss due to the strike at Rs 1,500-2,000 crore a day in the state.
