BS Reporter / Chennai/ Hyderabad Aug 13, 2009, 00:29 IST

Bangalore-based public sector lender Vijaya Bank opened two more branches in Hyderabad on Wednesday, taking the total number of branches in Andhra Pradesh to 97. The branches at Dilsukhnagar and Madhapur were inaugurated by bank’s chairman and managing director Albert Tauro.

Speaking the occasion, Tauro said that the bank envisaged a 22 per cent growth in total business during the current year.

“The focus on branch banking and online alternative delivery channels would help the bank to achieve the year-end goal of Rs 110,000 crore under aggregate business, with significant improvement in key profitability parameters,” he said, adding that the bank has a network of 1,108 branches across the country,

In the first quarter ended June 2009, the bank reported a total business of about Rs 92,000 crore and a net profit of Rs 143.38 crore.
