Vishnu Mathur takes over as the Director General of SIAM
Announcement / Corporate May 06, 2010, 19:40 IST

SIAM is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Vishnu Mathur as Director General of SIAM.  Vishnu succeeds Mr. Dilip Chenoy who after a successful stint with SIAM moves on to take responsibility as the CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Vishnu graduated from Delhi University and joined the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association in 1994 after working in CII from 1980. Vishnu, as Executive Director ACMA, has been involved in the development of the Automotive Mission Plan and is also a member of various committees related to the automotive industry. His work in ACMA included consensus building within industry and also promoting the growth and development of the industry.

Dr Goenka said “We are pleased to have Vishnu join SIAM as the Director General.  I am sure that with his close association with the various stakeholders of the automotive industry and his deep understanding of the issues and opportunities surrounding the auto industry, Vishnu will be able to provide the leadership to SIAM that will help the industry achieve its objective of Growth with Responsibility”.

The Vice President of SIAM Mr. S Sandilya said, “Vishnu Mathur is the ideal candidate to fill the vacuum created by the departure of Dilip Chenoy who will be missed at SIAM.”

Dilip joined SIAM in 2004 from CII and now moves to NSDC following an agreement between NSDC and SIAM.  SIAM holds equity in NSDC and Dilip currently represents SIAM on the NSDC Board.

Dr. Goenka said “Dilip during his tenure with SIAM has helped to build a very strong secretariat for this automotive industry body and has worked tirelessly to bring all the stake holders aligned to a common cause of the growth of the industry.  We wish him similar success in his new role at NSDC.”

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), which is the apex industry body representing 44 leading vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers in India, represents a sector which is a key growth engine of Industry and the Economy.  SIAM provides a window to the automobile industry in India.
