VLCC targeting biz turnover of Rs 1,000 cr by 2011-12
Press Trust of India / Kochi May 14, 2010, 21:39 IST

VLCC, a leading player in the beauty and wellness industry, today said it is targeting a business turnover of Rs 1,000 crore nationally by 2011-12.

Last year, VLCC posted a turnover of Rs 700 crore and was aggressively pursuing a target of Rs 1,000 crore this year from three related businesses in the wellness domain -- slimming, skin and hair services; education and training institutes; and manufacturing and retailing of personal care products -- VLCC Group Founder and Mentor Vandana Luthra told reporters here.

The group has about 225 service plus service centres across India, with plans to add 100 more by 2011-12.

VLCC also has 14 centres abroad, of which 10 are in UAE, two in Oman and one each in Bahrain and Nepal, she said, adding there were plans to open centres in UK and Egypt soon.

The group plans to invest totally Rs 350 crore in the next three years, of which about 20 per cent would be in the southern states, she said.

In Kerala, VLCC has centres at Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram and has plans to open one at Thrissur.

It also has plans to open a medi spa near the Delhi-Rajasthan border and another at Mumbai or Pune. It already has five spas.

VLCC also has 50 educational institutes providing training to students on beauty, hair and nutrition. The training course is open to those who have passed 12th standard and the duration varies from three months to 24 months.

Another 50 institutes would be added, she said.

Luthra also launched VLCC's innovative skin treatment product, Energy Morpho Lift, the latest addition to its proprietary Cosme Dermat range of high efficiency treatments, which employs the synergies of cosmetology and dermatology.

VLCC enjoys a market share of 10 per cent in the organised sector of the Rs 4,500 crore beauty industry.
