Volvo grows competitive to capture a bigger share of the luxury car market

Swedish luxury car maker Volvo Car India in a move towards strengthening its foothold and to remain competitive in the country announced opening of its two new dealerships and revised pricing for its flagship model XC90.

Expressing his views on the announcement, Paul de Voijs, Managing Director, Volvo Car India said, “The expansion of our dealer network signals the importance of the Indian market to Volvo Cars. We believe that India holds tremendous potential for our brand and want to make sure that we fully capitalise on the opportunities available while at the same time providing the best possible services for our customers at the best value at the most competitive prices."

“The Volvo XC90, now a seven seater with third row AC has been an ongoing success story ever since it was introduced. It includes all the classic SUV virtues combined with a luxurious passenger-car comfort and drive,” Mr. Voijs further added.

The dealerships will be registered under the name Taurus Motors Pvt. Ltd. and Liv Cars Pvt. Ltd. in Pune and Chennai respectively and will open its doors to the customers from July, 2009.

In lieu with current economic scenario and to provide luxury at right price, the prices for the flagship model Volvo XC90 SUV has been reduced by 7-8.5% with effect from 09 July, 2009.

Volvo XC90 has it all: compelling performance, distinctive styling and of course the legendary Volvo safety. The Volvo XC90 comes in three variants - D5 Diesel, 3.2L and 4.4L V-8 Petrol. All variants are offered in an all-wheel-drive (AWD) version and a 7-seater configuration with third row AC. The XC90 comes with class leading safety features such as – Dynamic Stability Traction Control; Roll-Over Protection System; Side-Impact Protection System; Roll Stability Control. It also comes with a host of features and accessories such as – ECC; Integrated GSM phone; Satellite Navigation System; Premium sound; Rear seat entertainment; Rear Park Assist.
