The newly formed West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has introduced pre-payment metering system for rendering better services to consumers.
The new system was inaugurated by WBSEDCL chairman-cum-managing director Malay Kumar De.
Under the system the consumer will not have to deposit any secuirty money. There is an opportunity of a rebate up to 2.5 per cent.
The consumer can deposit a minimum amount of Rs 300 on the basis of the declared load for consumption of electricity. The consumer will have to access to know the quantum of his daily consumption as also his remaining balance in his prepaid coupon.
The consumer would have grace time if the amount is exhausted in the evening. On deposition of the amounts one number will be generated which is to be punched in the friendly unit and the meter will be charged with excess amount.
