Wheat procurement picks up in Haryana

As much as 1,03,855 metric tonnes of wheat has arrived so far in the mandis of the state in the current Rabi season, which is on up to April 4.

Giving this information here today, a spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies Department said that out of the total, 1,03,850 metric tonnes of wheat were procured by the government procuring agencies while only 5 metric tonnes were procured by the traders during the current Rabi season.

Enumerating the wheat procurement break-up, he said that 28,010 metric tonnes were procured by Food and Supplies Department, 15,647 metric tonnes by Hafed, 40,956 metric tonnes by Food Corporation of India (FCI), 15,244 metric tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 3,993 metric tonnes by Confed.

Giving details of the arrival of wheat in mandis, he said that Palwal district was leading with the arrival of 78,454 metric tonnes, followed by Mewat with 6,491 metric tonnes wheat. He said that 6,228 metric tonnes had arrived in Gurgaon district, 4,505 metric tonnes in Sonipat, 3,701 metric tonnes in Faridabad, 1,299 metric tonnes in Ambala, 1,191 metric tonnes in Rewari, 1,000 metric tonnes in Rohtak, 580 metric tonnes in Karnal, 325 metric tonnes in Panipat, 61 metric tonnes in Panchkula and 20 metric tonnes in Yamunanagar.
