| Will continue to press for implementation of Sethu project: Karuna |

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who turned 86 today, said he would continue to press for the implementation of the Rs 2400 crore Sethusamudram project which awaits the clearance of the Supreme Court.
Speaking to reporters here after receiving greetings from hundreds of party men and supporters, the DMK patriarch said, "it has not been implemented so far and we will continue to press for its implementation."
The Supreme Court has reserved its orders on the project and appointed an expert committee headed by noted environmentalist R K Pachauri.
When asked about the left parties leaders calling on him to greet him on his birthday, he said 'It is a welcome sign. As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the Left parties had a political culture which is beyond party lines and their gesture was only part of it," he said.
CPIM and CPI had quit the DMK-alliance after they broke away from UPA following differences with Congress over the Indo-US nuclear deal and contested the just concluded Lok Sabha polls in alliance with AIADMK.
