Yes Bank Promotes Clean and Sustainable Technologies
Announcement / Banking Jun 09, 2009, 20:39 IST

Enters into a strategic alliance with Lahti Science and Business Park to act as a nodal agency in India to provide access to Finnish clean technology companies

Yes Bank, India’s new age private sector Bank has entered into an exclusive strategic alliance with Lahti Science and Business Park (LSBP), who have been mandated by the Ministry of Employment and Economy, Government of Finland, as the coordinator of Finnish Cleantech clusters (FCC).  FCC is aimed at enhancing the growth of small and medium-sized Finnish enterprises by helping them network and internationalise their business.

This alliance will act as a nodal agency for Finnish companies seeking to access the high potential Indian markets as well as Indian corporations looking for technology access from the highly developed cleantech market in Finland. The alliance will provide investment banking services such as M&A, technology transfer, joint venture advisory and fund raising to Indian and Finnish companies

Mr. Rana Kapoor, Founder / Managing Director and CEO, Yes Bank, said “Since inception we have focused on sustainability and I truly believe that this partnership with LSBP, coordinator of Finnish Cleantech cluster (FCC) will further deliver value to all our stakeholders and is in accordance with the Bank’s Responsible Banking philosophy as well as part of Yes Bank’s knowledge driven approach to banking.” “Our relationship will help us to create a nodal agency in India to access over 1500 cleantech companies which are members of FCC and will provide Indian business access to new technologies in cleantech domain, which is a high priority, given the important questions of climate change and energy deficit. This will work towards strengthening the mutual networks and further incubate and scale-up sustainable companies across a range of areas, such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, water and clean technologies alternative fuels, eco-construction etc.”, added Mr. Kapoor

Mr. Lauri Ylöstalo, CEO, Lahti Science and Business Park Ltd said “Finland has been ranked three times since 2000 as the number one country in World Economic Forum’s environmental sustainability indexes among 146 countries. Many of our Cleantech companies are global market leaders in renewable energy, energy efficiency, water treatment and solid waste management sectors. The relationship between FCC and Yes Bank will provide an efficient gateway for the Finnish Cleantech companies in entering the increasing Indian Cleantech market to share their technologies and know how. India is one of the most desired partners for many of our member companies, due to its readiness to combat the climate change and adopt new clean technologies. We are convinced that the relationship between FCC and the Yes Bank will provide significant economic opportunities for both countries, Finland and India, without forgetting the benefits for the environment.“
