| Changing tracks | 30-JUL-09 |
| A little over a week ago, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) chief E Sreedharan spoke to Shekhar Gupta on NDTV’s Walk the Talk programme about the ‘eminent structural consultants’ who had been consulted ‘outside the DMRC’ — he was talking of the various precautions DMRC took to ensure that the quality of work was top class, in terms of the design, the work done, the materials used as well as the quality and other checks. One of the consultants he spoke well of was Professor Tandon. “He has done the design for most of our structures. He is the Managing Director of Tandon Consultants. I have been working with him for the last 30 years … Probably his conclusion that it was only a surface crack was valid.” A week later, DMRC has blacklisted Tandon’s company for two years. |

| Sunil Jain: Time to go, Mr Sreedharan | 20-JUL-09 |
| Till even a few days ago, if you took a poll, despite the recent string of disasters in the Delhi Metro’s construction, most Delhi-ites would want Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) chief E Sreedharan to stay on. Accidents happen in all big projects, the argument goes, but Sreedharan is one of the few people who accepted moral responsibility, he has always delivered on time, he’s honest, he had to speed up things to meet the Commonwealth Games’ deadline, and so on. |
