The last Cabinet meeting lasted for just 20 minutes, of which around 15 minutes were taken up by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni. Soni moved a proposal related to widening the digital cable TV network and Dayanidhi Maran, the textiles minister whose family runs the Sun TV network in Tamil Nadu, raised a few technical questions. In an earlier Cabinet meeting, Maran had objected to Soni’s proposal and ensured that the proposal got deferred. This time round, however, Soni had come prepared and gave an elaborate reply to Maran. With no more objections, the Cabinet passed the proposal.

After offering portable FLASH TV multimedia player, storage device manufacturer, Allied Electronics and Magnetics Ltd.'s brand 'AMKETTE' now plans to launch an internet-based portable FLASH TV multimedia player by April-May 2010. To be priced around Rs 5,000, the product will be launched in phases.
Sun TV: Shining bright18-NOV-09
Driven by 37 per cent year-on-year growth in advertising revenues, Sun TV’s revenues jumped 35 per cent in the September 2009 quarter to Rs 320 crore, way ahead of the street’s estimates. Advertising revenues in the June 2009 quarter had risen 8 per cent, partly because marketers had earmarked spends for the IPL cricket tournament.
