Google Inc has signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government for allotment of 20 acre of land near Hyderabad for the proposed expansion of its operations, which include ramping up employee strength to over 4,000 professionals from the present 1,088 people.
The MoU was signed at Santa Clara, US, on Wednesday by secretary, IT&C, Andhra Pradesh government, and Roy Gilbert, director-online sales & operations, Google India, in the presence of chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who is on a week-long tour to the US and Singapore.
The land will be used to build a fully-owned techno complex to support the growing business and expansion across operations, according to Gilbert. "Google products and services have received a very encouraging response, and our offices have grown, thanks to the exceptional talent pool. The MoU marks a step forward in further establishing our commitment to India," he said in a press release.
"We are delighted that Google has decided to invest in Andhra Pradesh. We are focused on creating an environment for more companies to partner us. Such investment helps in accelerating the country's economic growth besides providing gainful employment," the Chief Minister said in a release issued today. |
