That would be exactly at the end of a 12-hour debate on the trust vote sought by Singh's government in view of the Left Parties withdrawing their support on the issue of India moving ahead in operationalising its civil nuclear agreement with the US.

The debate in the Lok Sabha saw the treasury benches exude confidence about wining the trust vote and assert that stand on the Indo-US nuclear deal.

Moving the motion Prime Minister said that seeking the trust vote was "avoidable, as he had already promised to consult the parliament on Indo-US nuclear agreement before it would be operationalised".
 
BJP leader L K Advani, who launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister said the Indo-US nuclear deal had become an agreement between two individuals, making India "subservient" and a "junior partner".

He made it clear that the BJP, if voted to power, would not scrap the deal but would renegotiate it.

However external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee countered Advani as he asserted that UPA clearly enjoyed the support of 271 members.
