Bs Reporter / New Delhi September 23, 2008, 15:33 IST

Expedia.co.in India, a subsidiary of Expedia Inc., an international online travel company, today announced the launch of its Flight Booking Service for Indian travellers. This would provide access to international airfares from more than 70 airlines worldwide.

Indian travellers will now be able to book their entire trip – flight tickets, hotels, attractions and activities – all in one place. The launch also introduces Expedia’s unique Dynamic Packaging Technology, which provides significant savings to customers when booking two travel products together (flight plus accommodation, for instance) as well as the added convenience of being able to customise their trips.

Unlike other travel portals, with the launch of Expedia’s flight booking services, Expedia customers will gain unparalleled access to flight options for destinations which do not originate from India. Travellers can therefore book flight tickets for their onward journey from any international destination, a service that only Expedia offers for Indian travellers. Furthermore, travellers will be able to immediately view actual prices of the air tickets, inclusive of taxes and supplier surcharge, making planning much easier as there are no hidden fees.

With access to nearly 80,000 hotels, 3,000 attractions and 70 airlines worldwide, Expedia customers will be able to customise trips and make informed choices. The online travel booking site Expedia.co.in has been designed specifically for Indian travellers and offers the best in hotels and travel destinations worldwide, along with a fully localised service and an in-country customer care centre staffed with dedicated agents who speak both Hindi and English.

“The outbound travel market in India is growing at a rate of 20 per cent per annum. Over 9 million Indians travel internationally every year and this number is growing faster than ever before with the figure poised to touch 12 million by the end of 2008 alone. The outbound market will be further driven by a growing Indian economy and higher disposable incomes. We believe we will be able to satisfy this ever growing market with our global product range, competitive prices, and in-depth travel and destination information,” said Arthur Hoffman, managing director Expedia Asia Pacific.
