BEML, a public sector Mini-Ratna company under the Ministry of Defence, has bagged a Rs 185 crore order for supply of largest Walking Dragline from Northern Coalfields (NCL). The order includes consumable spares for three years. The bucket capacity of the Dragline will be 33 Cubic Metre and this will be the biggest Dragline to be manufactured for the first time in the country. The equipment will be manufactured at BEML facility at Kolar Gold Fields. The duration of erection and commissioning will be 18 months from the date of receipt of consignments at site and will be completed by July 2011.
BEML has already supplied and commissioned 5 Nos of Walking Draglines of bucket capacity ranging from 24 CuM to 30 CuM to coal companies. The Walking Dragline will be used extensively in open-cast mines to remove overburdens.
BEML’s total order book position as of October 2009 stands at Rs 5,930 crore comprising mining & construction, defence, rail & metro business groups. The company has set a target of achieving total turnover Rs 4,000 crores for the current fiscal.
