Pramod Deo takes over as CERC chairman
The chairman's post has been lying vacant for over a year.
The CERC is the leading body of state regulatory commissions and sets the regulatory agenda for the country's power sector.
Deo was today administered the oath of office and secrecy by Sushil Kumar Shinde, union minster of power.
He has served in the Indian Administrative Service for more than 30 years and had joined MERC in 2002 .
He has also worked earlier in ministry of power, Department of Energy, government of Maharashtra, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Asian Institute of Technology.
