Karnataka deputy chief minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday ruled out the introduction of a new tax replacing Octroi that has been abolished.

"The question of imposing a new tax in lieu of Octroi does not arise at all," Siddaramaiah told reporters during an informal chat.

He said that the resources of the state were being allocated to panchayats and other local bodies on the recommendations of the state finance commission.
