Award for journalists announced

Duarah was awarded for investigative reporting on human rights while Barua was given the award for investigative reporting on women issues, Convenor of the Awards committee P J Baruah said here today.

The awards given in memory of freedom fighter and advocate Pabindra Nath Sarma and his wife carry a cash amount of Rs 15,000 each and a citation.

Duarah is a correspondent of the local Assamese daily Dainik Asam while Baruah is a freelance journalist.

The awards will be given away formally at a function on October six, Barua added.
